Design Note :

This EF86 edition is to commemorate our favourite tube brand - Mullard of UK. Who invented the EF86 preamp tube, which is sensitive / powerful and has very good gain and performance, say over the most commonly used 12AX7/ECC83. The Mullard 3-3 tube amp circuit also brought lots of good tube memories and good sound to the HiFi world the last half century. Even us - we misses and love that dreamy tube bloom offered by the combo - many people literally fall in love with tubes thanks to Mullard. It’s just something simple and good you can listen whole day. Why bothered with very serious rigs and expensive hifi systems? when you can have this, and a simple pair of speakers for some of the best tube sound in this world!

Sometime in the mid-1990s, I was in a music store and noticed an audio magazine on the rack I had never seen before. It was Issue 12 of Sound Practices. I flipped through it and was fascinated by its retro take on audio, so I made the purchase. I read every article, but Herb Reichert's Causal Reactions column struck me to the core. This was back during a time when Herb Reichert was an arts school teacher and his vacuum tube efforts were dedicated towards DIY. His basic argument was this: the best way to evaluate an audio system is how it allows you to feel the emotions in your music. All other criteria are secondary.

F-6V6 Integrated

A closed architecture design compact integrated amp that features the 6V6 Output Tube, running Class A auto-bias with over 4.5W per channel is MUCH more powerful and useful than you think... (yes, it comes with a top cover - its off for photos only).

It will replace the F-108, with even bigger sound-stage & meat, lower and greater bass and bottom, even more tubey and dreamy. Moreover, this is a NO NFB design, and in audiophile preferred SINGLE ENDED mode! All the good measurements and performance were possible only, thanks to our high quality real audio grade output transformers, designed by Triode Lab Ltd, and engineered by Hammonds Canada.

This is a true HIGH-END, SINGLE-ENDED design! The amplifier is rectified by tube (many purist prefer its sound), and the power supply is regulated, which is normally only found in highest end expensive Class A amps. This ensures each tube/time sees a very exact 6.3V for optimal output and operation at all times, with less fluctuations, it also enhances the lifespan of each tube. The result - this amp is absolutely silent through our horn speakers in the showroom... as it should, thanks to our top notch design, which is easily the best in the industry for the last few decades.

Most of all, the entire amplifier is Canadian, from Design, Transformers, to Build. It was never intended to be an entry-level amp, but the best one in its class, with real HiFi ingredients and philosophy. It is perfect for high-eff speakers, especially those with forward sounding highs, or speakers that lack bass/impact/weight, not to mention, large diameter full range speakers, including dual concentric designs!
