Stereo Reference Triode Power Amplifier

Like all previous RS/RSR series amplifiers - the new RS (MK2) also uses the dual chokes arrangement, as well dual large ECAPS. Which became the trademark power supply design for this flagship series. The output transformers also uses the 20W “Potted” HIFI grade (as photos on this page shown) or larger/better as the minimal entry. The RS/RSR series simply are for the purest tube connoisseurs who wants to use the best output transformers they can have. (And different version output transformers will work better on different speakers/systems, so sometimes smaller isn’t a deficiency one might think). Customers can opt to have the flagship 30W Hashimoto as well (We can use both 3.5K for higher power and bolder sound , or 5K for more Class A /Refinement , depending preference of listeners and speakers/systems) - but we will have to move the four ECAPs for the space , as the 30W has bigger footprint in all directions. (Four ECAPS on the amplifier currently are test fitting / movable for difference sized output transformers).

So here is the new highlights of the MK2 : One more tube for the front end.

The new 300B RS Driver / Preamp Front End Design - 12AX7 driving a pair of 6CG7/6N6. Which has a lot more gain and control over the previous version with just a pair of 12AX7, the amp instantly sounded more rich as well. Every single bits and parts on the front end is carefully selected and matched every stage for balance and perfection. Using the best resistors and caps (A pair of top tier Mundorf Germany’s EVO Silver Gold Oil Coupling caps and a pair of WIMA Germany coupling film caps is tastefully selected for both sound flavor and accuracy, also reliability - we don’t pick them because of their size or if they looked good, or because of some beautiful marketing campaign, we have been using these two brands for a few decades with success and absolute reliability / durability is proven, same as every single resistor and ecap on it, it’s a choice of our several decade’s of experience from our first hand - and more importantly we also know how they sound). It’s circuit board is also entirely grounded, also shielded from the outside air / RF for lowest possible noise control and fewest cross-talk or noise being picked-up from this critical stage, which results some of the quietest triode amps we makes. The use of multi-caps design for it’s power delivery also means durable, quiet and reliable the same time. And all three preamp tube socket’s are provided by QQQ of Japan, for it’s industrial grade durability and uses.

Now, getting to the 300B, the power output stage: Every single 300B gets its own / individual power supply circuit and regulator works. The new power supply scheme is improved and beefed up by alot , how well it is stuffed means no holds bared, with multiple-caps (literally half a dozen of ecaps) arrangement. Which is same as the RS America and the RSR. It allows more accurate , efficient , and a very durable service for a long long time. Not that we wanted to use more parts than required. The over sized heat sink for the DC stage , as well the important part such as the loading resistors are all well over-sized and doubled up. Last, we uses our high end reference coupling caps from Mundorf, their Supreme series Silver in Oil version to voice the amplifier.

For the power supply, for any high end tube amplifiers, the quality of the power transformer and choke transformer is everything. On such important role, and thanks to Hashimoto (Sansui) , the power transformer is make specific to the 300B tube. And the iconic double-chokes arrangement is used for superior filtering and energy release task, oversized and engineered to last a life-time quality. And it doesn’t end here… the new 300B RS MK2, also uses the New RSR EVO’s Power Supply Enhancement and Double-Pi DC Link Circuits on top of the original Dual Choke Transformers arrangement from former RS/RSR models, for further quieter operations , smoother start up and more efficient / stable operations. Two Rubycon USA 500V+ Ecaps and one Wima Germany DC Link 10 uf / 600V Cap is used on top of each (dual) choke transformers. Starting from the AC Inlet - we uses Furutech Japan’s Gold or optional Rhodium IEC socket, to the QQQ Rectifier Tube Socket for repeated uses to fine tune your system with the rectifier tube, and down to every single run of wire (power or signal/voice) are well thought before uses them.
